Valnalón visits Tudela Veguín Mortar Factory in Langreo

In 1987, the Government of the Principality of Asturias created the Nalón Valley Industrial City (VALNALON) as a management company dependent on the Regional Ministry of Industry and Employment, with the aim of promoting, regenerating and modernizing enterprise in the Nalón Valley.

VALNALON has evolved over time; from concentrating on developing business facilities (business centres, industrial estates and training centres), it has progressed to mainly focusing on the task of changing people’s mindsets, paving the way from the Industrial Culture to the current Entrepreneurial Culture.

Due to the rise in the development of companies in the New Information and Communication Technology sector (ICT), the term Industrial City has been changed to Technological City.

At the end of November, the Tudela Veguin Mortar factory in Langreo was visited by the managers and some of the teaching staff from Valnalón Technological City, in order to learn first-hand all about the functioning of the different process lines and the organisational structure held in place by Morteros Tudela Veguín in its factory in Riaño, Langreo. Another reason for the visit was to find interesting points for future practical training of students in which Morteros Tudela Veguín could collaborate.

After receiving the explanations given by the managerial staff at Morteros Tudela Veguín, the visitors were pleasantly surprised with the high degree of automation in place and also with the level of technology involved in each of the production processes in the factory.

Both entities are now evaluating future collaboration, which would possibly begin with small groups of students from training courses in the Technological City of Valnalón making guided visits to the factory in Langreo. During these visits, all of the complementary aspects of the student’s theoretical training would be outlined in the daily activity of the different processing departments of this company.
