Chemical Engineering students visit Tudela Veguín Cement Factory

On Monday, May 5th, Tudela Veguín Cement Factory was visited by nineteen students from the third year of the Industrial Chemical Engineering Degree in the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón. Assistant Manager and Head of Quality and Environment, Mr Ignacio Asensio, guided the students on a tour of the two main production lines.

On the clinker/cement line, the students learned all about the production process; starting with the composition of the raw meal used to the create the clinker and including all the different stages; the crushing of raw meal, the feeding device, the clinkering system, the cooler and the grinding of the clinker to produce cement. In the case of the limestone and dolomite production line, the students had the opportunity to see the manufacturing process and observe the inherent particularities to the horizontal (1) and vertical (4) kilns found at the plant.
