Acacia and apple trees in Clara Campoamor park in Narón

The second-last environmental awareness day of the year took place at Narón cement factory, on Thursday, March 13 last. Given that there is no space left for planting around the cement mill, the local council kindly provided a patch of land in the centre of the town so that the schoolchildren could enjoy their environmental awareness day for the fourth year running.

As on former occasions, attending the event were the mayor of Narón, Mr José Manuel Blanco, accompanied by the councillor for Services, Mr Pablo Mauriz, the councillor for the Environment and Town Planning, Mr Manuel Ramos and Popular Party councillor Mr Hipólito Fariñas. Likewise, General Manager of Communication and International Relations, Ms Alicia Castro, the manager of Narón cement factory, Mr Carlos Hugo Huerta and the Environmental manager for the industrial sector of the business group, Mr Fernando Tresguerres attended on behalf of Corporación Masaveu.

Mr José Manuel Blanco confirmed his commitment to provide natural spaces for this initiative and stated his hope for the event to continue “for many years to come”.
